Bridleway, Berkhamsted

In the past Bridleway was the path used by town residents to bring their livestock onto common land to graze, today the path is still much used by local families. But pressures to build homes threatens the future of the Bridleway, the local authority view the space as ‘of little landscape interest’ [Council Report 2019] while local families see it as a ‘beautiful, peaceful, green and wildlife rich corner of our town’ [Save Bridleway campaign 2019]. I wanted to understand this space loved and valued by so many and express my response to it in this body of work.
